Blykalla welcomes four new members to the team

A warm welcome to our new amazing colleagues who recently joined Blykalla!

Vera Roth -  Nuclear Waste Chemist

Originally from Iceland, Vera brings with her an impressive academic background. She recently completed her PhD in Materials Science at Chalmers University of Technology. Her research focused on developing a novel electrochemical method for mercury removal from challenging sources, including industrial wastewater and concentrated acid from smelting, in collaboration with the startup Atium.

In addition to her PhD, Vera holds a Master’s degree in Nuclear Engineering from Chalmers and a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Iceland. Her expertise and dedication to advancing sustainable solutions for nuclear waste management will be a valuable asset to Blykalla’s mission.

”I am inspired by Blykallas mission and excited by the opportunity to be part of such a unique journey. The company's research-driven environment, working with a diverse group of professionals, and its focus on real-world impact, make it a particularly compelling place to contribute."

Anders Molin - Structural Engineer

Anders brings over 15 years of experience in mechanical design, FEM simulations, and structural engineering across multiple industries. He also holds a Master’s degree in Vehicle Engineering from KTH.

Anders began his career in structural consultancy across the aviation and oil sectors. He then joined Saab Surveillance, where he worked extensively with structural analysis and verification for military aircraft systems like the Gripen E and Eurofighter. He later joined Ahlberg Cameras, leading mechanical design and simulation efforts for nuclear inspection systems. Most recently, Anders was the Lead Simulation Engineer at Northvolt Systems, where he performed structural simulations and ensured compliance with standards like Eurocode, ASTM, and IEEE.

At Blykalla, Anders will be working as a structural engineer, focusing on structural calculations for SEALER-One. He will be deeply involved in applying and interpreting international standards to support a safe and efficient design.

"I’m proud to be part of a team tackling complex challenges in energy and sustainability. My experiences — from structural simulations in aerospace to cooling systems in nuclear hardware — have always been driven by a passion for solving real-world engineering problems with precision and purpose. I believe robust mechanical design is key to enabling safe, sustainable energy systems."

Tobias Kloihofer  – Test & Validation Lead

Originally from Austria, Tobias brings extensive experience from leading quality and engineering functions across several industries. At Northvolt, he served as Director of Quality & Engineering Task Force Leader. Before that, he built quality systems and managed equipment design for product launches in the bicycle industry, and contributed to more than 20 new product integrations in aerospace. Tobias also holds a Master’s degree in Engineering and an MBA.

At Blykalla, Tobias will be working on the SEALER nuclear power plant system architecture, and in particular on the verification and validation model, strategy, and plan — from materials all the way to sub-systems, SEALER-E, SEALER-One, and ultimately SEALER-55.

“After many years in aerospace, I’ve always been fascinated by the advancement of technology and the idea of turning science fiction into reality. Gen4 nuclear power is one of those transformative technologies. Who knows — maybe it will even bring us closer to the stars. What it will certainly do is help close the gap in electrification in a safe, reliable, and CO₂-friendly way.”

Ola Wessely – Safety Engineer

Ola joins Blykalla as our new safety engineer. He holds a Master’s degree in Applied Physics and a PhD in Theoretical Magnetism, followed by a three-year postdoctoral position in London.

Prior to Blykalla, Ola spent 16 years at the Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Company (SKB), where he modelled a wide range of processes, from radiation shielding to groundwater flow. His main focus was conducting safety assessments in support of licensing applications to the Swedish Radiation Safety Authority (SSM).

At Blykalla, Ola will contribute his extensive expertise to safety analyses and calculations, supporting our mission to commercialize lead-cooled reactor technology.

“The open and collaborative work environment at Blykalla has given me the opportunity to learn from highly skilled colleagues, and I look forward to working together to overcome the challenges of realizing a lead-cooled fast reactor.”
