Blykalla part of Sweden's high-level business delegation to Canada alongside Ministers and the Royal Family

Sweden recently brought a high-level business delegation to Canada (18-20 November), gathering selected companies to discuss opportunities for deeper industrial collaboration and competitiveness between our countries.

The visit took place in conjunction with the State Visit by Their Majesties The King and Queen of Sweden, joined by Ministers Ebba Busch, Pål Jonson, Mélanie Joly and Christine Fréchette, creating a setting for direct, substantive conversations about the energy and technology landscape shaping both nations.

We were proud to be part of this group, with our Head of Legal & Regulatory, Thérèse Burman, representing Blykalla throughout the visit.

Thérèse also participated in a Business Leaders' Luncheon in the presence of Their Majesties The King and Queen of Sweden, hosted by Goldy Hyder, President and CEO of the Business Council of Canada, and H.E. Signe Burgstaller, Ambassador of Sweden to Canada, joined by Minister François-Philippe Champagne and Deputy Prime Minister Ebba Busch, for discussions on deepening relationships and collaboration between key stakeholders.

The program featured compelling site visits and discussions spanning electrification, advanced manufacturing, and AI, including:
- Area X.O (operated by Invest Ottawa) – a research and development complex accelerating time-to-market for next-gen technology
- Ericsson – showcasing telecommunications innovation
- Bombardier – demonstrating advanced manufacturing capabilities
- Mila - Quebec Artificial Intelligence Institute – exploring cutting-edge AI research

With Canada and Sweden having recently entered into a Strategic Partnership, building on common interests and values, we anticipate increased cooperation opening up new business opportunities. Both countries share a strong alignment on the need for reliable, fossil-free power to drive industrial development, and we see significant potential to accelerate the advanced reactor industry through North American collaboration.

A big thank you to Business Sweden, especially Jan Larsson, Christina Keighren, Patricia Boeg-Jensen, Marie Claire Maxwell, and Artemida Bodounova, as well as the Embassy of Sweden in Canada, Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs, Kungl. Hovstaterna, Vinnova, Swedish Energy Agency, RISE Research Institutes of Sweden, and all our Canadian partners for an exceptional program.
