At Almedalen 2025, Blykalla played an active role in shaping the conversation around the future of energy in Sweden and Europe. Through carefully curated events and targeted dialogue, we brought our perspective as a developer of advanced SMRs into discussions on industrial electrification, energy security, and long-term competitiveness.
Our presence included a closed roundtable lunch with key decision-makers from government, industry, and finance — focused on the conditions required to accelerate the deployment of new nuclear technologies. The discussion highlighted a growing consensus around the need for local electricity production, new financing models, and European energy sovereignty. For Blykalla, it was an opportunity to share our vision for deployment-oriented project structures and the importance of combining innovation with industrial realism.
Equally significant was the energy industry mingle we hosted later in the week. Drawing nearly 200 guests — including executives, policymakers, investors, and municipal leaders — the event became one of the most well-attended and high-level gatherings of the energy sector at Almedalen this year. In a relaxed setting, it offered space for informal conversations across sectors, and underlined the growing interest in nuclear energy as a core pillar of Sweden’s and Europe’s climate and industrial strategies.
With interest in next-generation nuclear reaching new levels, Blykalla continues to focus on what matters most: delivering real deployment. Almedalen 2025 marked a step forward in building the partnerships and political support needed to bring Europe’s first advanced SMR online — built in Sweden, powered by Swedish innovation.
