We are excited to welcome Michel Chapuis to Blykalla as our new Manager of Mechanical Engineering.
Michel brings over 15 years of experience in simulation-driven design, mechanical systems, and advanced engineering leadership. He joins us most recently from Northvolt, where he worked as Manager of Simulation Engineering, leading a multidisciplinary team working across computational fluid dynamics, finite element analysis, and multiphysics applications in battery technology.
Michel’s background spans cutting-edge applications in aerospace, automotive and energy storage. He began his career as a Research Engineer at FOI, specializing in advanced computational fluid dynamics methods applied to combustion, hydrodynamics, and propulsion. Since then, he has held senior technical roles at Saab, Bombardier Transportation (now Alstom), and Öhlins Racing, delivering simulation and design solutions across a range of complex engineering challenges.
At Blykalla, Michel leads our mechanical engineering team, which includes expertise in mechanical design, structural mechanics, thermodynamics, and fluid dynamics. He is responsible for driving the development of robust mechanical solutions for our small modular reactor program, ensuring that design integrity, safety, and innovation go hand in hand.
Michel has a background in aerospace engineering from KTH Royal Institute of Technology and has co-authored several scientific papers on computational fluid dynamics and combustion modeling. He brings a passion for applied physics, sustainable technology and engineering leadership to our team.
